Just in case any of you are curious what Mustang wheels would look like on a Ranger... here you go.
They came from a 2007 Mustang (v-6 I think). The only modification I had to do to them was gring out the hub hole a little. Unfortionately though, I am not able to put the front spinners (hub caps) on because of the front hub.
Anyway, I was just curious to see what you all thought.
STan
BTW: The wheels and tires together... $150. Not bad, eh?
Here is a better shot. Along with my freshly painted hood.
Not bad for 114k, eh?
Does anybody know of a way to tame the brake dust on the front wheels? I am pretty disappointed with the brake pads I put on my truck about 6 months ago. They put out WAY too much dust. I can clean the wheels, then have a noticable dusting in about 1-2 days... and I drive very lightly (no hard braking).
You can use a product called Kleen Wheels (google).
However, brake dust causes other issues. Namely; brake "warp". Now warping is a myth but too much dust from the pads can create an issue call cementite deposits. This is caused when you brake and keep you foot on the brake after a prolonged or hard stop which careates an abundance of heat. Basically, it "melts" (not exacty but...) brake pad material to the hot rotor and causes warped rotor sensation when you brake.
Only way to fix the problem would be to resurface or replace the rotor.
Switching to a harder compound brake material can help eliminate that. Ceramics are good for low dust performance but can take a while to get up to good operating temp.
There are a lot of pads out there now that are labeled "low dust". Look into those but get some more recommendations from others on the board here.
I like Hawk pads, personally. Cryo'd pads and rotors also help.
