85 2wd 250 caliper issues

Well i got myself an 85 f250 converted to a dually for free... I can seem to get the brake calipers off I removed the bolt that holds the pins in.. Now do I bang both pieces out together? Or is there another way? I beat it with a 4lb mini sledge and have no luck..the smaller piece moved the larger wont budge one bit.. I need to get this fixed asap any ideas?

Yes, just hit it with a BFH and a brass drift of punch.

There is a T shaped piece of metal and a spring clip. Knock them both out at the same time.

Methinks you need to pound out the spring/retainer clip thinger; pound from the other side
(obviously) and you might need to use more force than you'd expect.

That's a negative on that Chris.

The spring clip is shaped like this ] and straddles the T shaped pin. They both come out at the same time. There is no other way.

Yeah, man, you're prolly right, Stan! I just remember pounding on things that
are in that area, I obviously don't remember things entirely correctly.

Oh, well, I tried....
