What's the condition of the torque pins inside the motor casing? Can't see the pic too well but i think you should have a look inside before anything else.
If your motor runs but won't lift the window messin with the screw won't help matters. That's because the part that usually breaks are the rollers between the regulator drive gear and the gearbox, these are available online dirt cheap.. I got a set for $0.99 on Ebay.
i replaced that gear/pins, and my window rolled up and down like ten times then quit (no noise or anything), i put my light on it and its getting power so its probably the motor itself. i was just wondering what that screw does. thanks for that pic tho paul
i figured it out-it sits on top of the worm drive and applies pressure to the motor- i checked my motor again and i heard it making a little click when i hit the button- so i disassembeled the entire thing. i found some residue looked like mositure got in it and the motor looked as if the brushes were not making good contact, so i sprayed it down with wd40 (inside of the motor also) let it soak for a bit greased up the gear and put it all back together. adjusted that screw a little bit now it works like new. at least better than you think a 20 year old motor would. saved myself $50.
I have a 1991 F250 4wd regular cab and my motor just quit on me yesterday on the passenger side. The drivers side works fine. I tore apart the door and tried to put the window up manually with pressure but that was a no go. When I hit the button i do hear a click noise but nothing happens. When i was putting the window down it kind of stopped with 1/4 of the way left so i applied pressure to get it down all the way, bad idea. Now it's stuck.
Do you guys think i need to pull the motor and grease it up and oil it, wherever it needs it, or do you think I need a new motor based on my symptoms. Also, is there any instructions for rebuilding? and where/how to oil it up?
well if you want to take the motor out you can search for old threads i remember seeing a step by step post somewhere on here but i cant remember where- that picture that conanski posted is what youll see inside (minus the grease) if your plastic rollers are broken you can usually find them at your local auto parts store's Help! section if you dont want to wait on ebay.
