What an idiot. He is telling people that the Ford system energized the glow plugs when the engine is hot(it does not) and also that in the morning you just need to hold them longer with his button, which will burn them out extra quick. If you buy a good relay at a parts house it will last a long time, and I don't think there is anything special about his relay at all.
I am in canada and i paid 30.95 for the relay, 6.95 for wire, and 7.00 for the momentary switch. Now with my math that comes t about 45 dollars, 48 with taxes. I would have to pay over 80 dollars to get this to my door. Dont be friggin stupid, i will send you the wiring diagram or walk you through it for free and all you need is to buy the parts. Get er done and kick this clown in the nuts!! LMAO!!!
ghunt,
The 83 through 86 controller looks like this.
The glow plug relay on the 83 thru 86 trucks is exactly like the one mounted on your controller/relay.
Over the years the 87 thru 94 controller/relay changed a little, that actually looks like the early ones, 87 and 88.
That said, the 87 is the same as the 94, they just look a bit different.
Also I have read several different manual glow plug conversion write ups on a couple different forums.
Some of them would take a couple hours, have many cut wires with more wires to run to replace them.
I could do the conversion in less time than it took me to read one of them.
Well...I know on mine, I made a small bracket to hold the switch, attached it to the aluminum bracing under the dash, and then all I had to do was ground the switch to the bracket and run a wire to the one post on the GP controller. Took a little while, but it was easy.
