seats for a 53-56

I'm currently using 60/40 Range seats in my 55, I want a wider seat or something with maybe seatbelts intergrated into the seats, I don't want buckets or a new powerglide seat. What are some great seats that you are/have used I may go to the pull-a-part this weekend.

The '00 up to '07 Taurus's and Sables have some decent seats and they fit the effie's interior cab width. You will probably have to modify the track mounts a bit. Problem is that you hardly ever see the Taurus's in the bone yards. I think that is mainly because they are tough little cars driven by mostly sensible people

You might also (if I dare to suggest) look at the S-10 60/40 seat. When I had my S-10 it was a great seat and had the belts as well. I also liked the arm rest/cup holder set up better.

Seems to me that the 19830 84 Dodge Diplomat seats ere pretty close for the cab in that truck . I know finding one in good shape would be tough these , but who knows these days ? Hey I still run a pair of Dodge Mini Ram seats even though they are buckets in my 53 Ford Panel Delivery . I wish I could find a pair of origionals though . Ed Shaver

I will use a second row leather seat from a 2007 Tahoe when I get to it. Width is perfect. Middle seat has integrated shoulder belt. (Note the steering column is just stuck there so I could sit in it and make vroom vroom sounds. That is not the columns final spot....just in case you were wondering!) I will likely use midfiftys shoulder brackets so the driver/pass will have shoulder belts too. Still havent decided if I will keep the headrests there or remove for a more traditional bench look.

look at the stickies at the top of the page!!! lots of info up there that has helped guide me to boneyard parts that'll work . some of it just depends on wether your trying to stay all ford .... by the way i'm modifying and using the seats outta the 87 vic i ripped apart . they're a close fit . buliding a 1x 1 frame on the oe seat track and making a little filler from other peices to go in the middle . lost the power tracks , the head rests and it'll be a true bench seat , not the split seats it is now . a lot of trouble some might say , but my oe seat is missing springs and pieces galore . hades it had wood shoved in it to keep you off the floor .........

I got these from a guy who bought them from a police auction as a lot. He had them stacked in his garage. They were brand new, never used taken out of police conversion vehicles that did not need the second row seats for their use. Might want to check your local auctions/pd.

They sit flat on the floorboards as well...just the rear steps up where I will need to fab up some kind of blocks to bolt the rear to. Shouldn't be too hard. They fold down too, but there isnt room with the steering column in for the driver side to fold down.

Howdy,

I have been looking at seats out of a 200+ Suburban.

They have the shoulder harnesses integrated into the seat backs and give you the ability to have someone (comfortably) sit in the middle if needed.

Regards,

Rick

No I don't have them in now...I have everything all torn apart..cab off, frame all in pieces...a real mess!

They came almost level with the bottom of the window just sitting in there.

You can kind of see in this pic..thats about as good as I have a pic of.

When you were sitting in there going vroom, vroom; how was the leg room? I'm 6'2 and am wanting to replace the seat, I currently am slightly scrunched up leg wise. I realize this is a tough one to answer, but do appreciate your insite. Sweet looking seats!
Thanks,
Jon

I am 6' and it was doable...I would prefer a little more room, but the seat backs are locked at the angle they are at. I don't know how much leg room a stock bench has though because I never had one in there. The pics I have here have a tilt telescoping column and for some reason it was completely extended in the pics...probably because my kids were playing too! It was also dangling by a wire and lower than it would be mounted when all is said and done.

So to answer your question, the leg room wasn't too bad and I can live with it, but I would have liked a few more inches in a perfect world.
