Did Ford install the AODE trans in the F150 trucks. If so, what years? I have a 94GT/AODE and the trans is shot. I'd like to find a AODE out of a truck to rebuild, if there is such a animal?
I would think the truck trans would be more beefier.
Watch Out!
My 1995 F-150 has a AODE and it has the button on the shifter stalk. I know of at least 5 other AODEs with the overdrive button on the stalk.
Do not use a truck tranny! First of all, you will have to switch the ouput shaft. Second, belive it or not, the Mustang tranny is STRONGER than the trucks. It's torque converter has a higher stall speed. The heavy duty truck tranny is the E4OD, the AODE is a weak unit.
It seems there's a difference in the car/truck AODE, like you said. The trucks had a different length tailhousing/shaft. About 1"1/2 longer. Which wouldn't be a problem. I'd just have to use the yoke from the truck. Also, the teeth on output (for speedo gear)shaft might be diff.
I've decided to search for one out of a car and beef it up.
