OK, so I installed a Kenwood DNX7140 a few weeks ago and am very happy with the unit. Being summer, I haven't driven much after dark, but on the couple of occasions that I have, I noticed that the display on the HU is still annoyingly bright (even on the dimmest setting).
Is this something I need to live with, or is there some sort of work around? I connected all the factory harness wires accordingly, including the dash dimmer wire, but when I turn the dimmer dial, nothing happens on the HU display. Any thoughts, experience or tips?
I've heard of some issues with variable grounds for the dimmer vs variable voltage for the illumination. I don't know about your head unit, but you may want to look over the manual and see if they specify both dimmer and illumination.
