I have a 99 Ranger and am looking for a nice Double DIN HU to replace the factory unit. I have found a few, but they are all silver. I want a black HU to match the interior of the truck. Any suggestions?
Ummm . . . rattle can paint, they do it in ricers! Not really, I don't recall ever seeing any either. Other than changing some other things to silver in order to accent, you got me. Good luck!
Hey, This was the best way I figured to get ahold of you. What did you do for your subs? I am looking for the exact same solution you were searching for, but I couldn't figure out what you did.
What you may have to end up doing is just getting the mounting bracket for a regular deck, it will have a slotted spacer. I think it is pretty similiar to the one for the F150. In my gallery I have a link for stereo install parts you may want to check out, it'll have absolutely everything else you'll need to replace the factory HU as well.
I am trying to avoid using a mounting kit because I dislike the way they look. I have the ford tools to remove the factory deck. I have already installed an amp and subwoofer. The frequency response of the factory deck doesn't go low enough to get the full effect of the subwoofer. The is why I am looking for a new HU. If I can find a Double DIN HU I would use that, but I'm in no hurry to find one. I am sure someday some company will make one that is black. Oh I'm sure you know this, but if you purchase a head unit from Crutchfield they include installation instructions (including how to get the facory unit out), mounting kits, and your wiring harness. Now wouldn't it be nice if their prices weren't so high.
