Spring installation question

I just put an add-a-leaf in my front spring pack and now I can't get the spring eye bolts back in. Any suggestions? The instructions say to do one side at a time, but I'm thinking about dropping the whole axel now. Do you think that would help or have any other ideas?

Thanks,
Brian

I would not drop the whole axle. How close are the eyes to lining up? What if you jacked up on the axle to try to push the eyes closer to the holes?

Thanks, I won't drop the whole axle now. The front spring eye is only about 1/4" off right now. You can see through it but it's sill not enough to get the bolt through.

You really need two people one to stick a long pointed steel bar into the eye of the spring from one side and pry it into place while the other hammers the bolt through the hole and pushes the steel bar out the other side. also moving the steering wheel one way or the other to put pressure on the axle with one tire on the ground sometimes will help alingn the holes... PITA most of the time

Got one side done. Should move faster on the other. Took one big floor jack and two small ones with two people. I havent had this much fun in forever!

I finally got it finished. I had to use 2 floor jacks to get everything lined up. The first side took a while, the second side we flew through. Thanks for all the advice.
