I think on the irs equiped expy's there was a seperate speed sensor for each rear wheel. It could be a speed sensor, but the best thing to do (unless someone has a specific problem and solution common to that year) is find someone with an abs scan tool.
if you have after market wheels that should solve the ABS light broblem..the system reads that the wheels are not factory from the maker and their heavier and bigger and the light will stay on.if you have stock wheels then ur s.o.l lol
On the front of an '03 the sensor is part of the hub assembly. I have not replaced anything on the rear, but if there is a hub I would assume the sensor is integrated. These hubs are not cheap.
I think there is a speed sensor on the transmission, easy to change, not sure if it is integrated into the ABS system.

No kidding!
The ABS light on my wife's Expedition had been going on and off recently and I decided to check the front brakes, just in case. Glad I did!
My wife said she has been hearing some noise from the front recently. Especially when turning right. The hub on the driver's side had about 1/2" play in every direction. Damn!!!
I guess it had also messed up the ABS sensor, too. Bought a new hub from O'Reilly's ($270... ), put it on (together with new pads and rotors) and now it's like new again.
Turned out to be an expensive brake job, but I'm glad I did as the hub wouldn't have lasted for too long anymore sending the driver's side wheel on its own course leaving my wife with only three wheels. Not a nice scenario...

No, not a nice scenario...unless of course you have a good life insurance policy.
