Hi Guys
I have 04 4.6L auto, 2wd F150 about 6 months ago bend a valve and cracked a head had them replaced. now when i start the truck i get white smoke from the tail pipe and a anti freeze smell. thinking about getting rid of this dog and dropping in a 5.2L. what does it intail
Love the truck just what to stop have problems with this motor.
Just finished reading an article in Classic Trucks magazine, where they are trying to make a 4.6 work in a '68 bump side. It's very difficult. I would strongly suggest you just get your hands on a rebuilt 4.6 and go with that. These days, with all the electronic controled engines we have it's just too much trouble to change what the rig came with. JMO.
2. If you could find a whole F-150 thats been wrecked to use as a donor vehicle its not that bad, but without the wiring harness, pcm, ect.....it's gunna be expensive and hard....

See....now there are stand alone harnesses available to run modern engines in old vehicles.....it shouldn't be that hard
