Noisy engine
WELL, I thought I had a solid 360 in my f-100(4 speed) , but I noticed a loud ticking when the engine is being dragged or idling down. I think it is a lifter. Then today I start it up and let it sit for a minute, and as I am about to leave, I notice that the engine is knocking noticably while it was idling. What could it be? It has plenty of oil and it doesn;t leak. I am fearing a rebuild.

FEs have bad habits of bending pushrods. I just took apart a 390 that was ticking loudly on the top end it had three bent pushrods.
Easy check is to pull the valve covers and check the lash on them buy turning and wiggiling with the valves fully closed on each cylender.
