Well guy's I need some knowledge on body work! I just purchased a crewcab 1970 thats in decent shape but the top has some issues. Getting replacement parts from what I've found are no out their? Found this crewcab headed for the crusher and bought it and now I'm gonna build a nice off-road rig with good highway manners. Its gonna be a huntin rig as main purpose. Gonna set it on a 1970 longwheel base frame and gonna set up pretty nice for my situation. Repair the top or replace. I'm not gonna paint but do a nice rhino liner for truck. Gonna do a link suspension with air bags. Did this on my 77 ford and it has been a really good setup over the yrs and still running. knowledge on body work is my main need. This truck was inspired by top truck challenger in 1998 rat exterminator truck and www.offroaddesign.com crewcab truck. Our club was involved with the wyoming leg in 2008 ultimateadventure. These trucks by offroad design really impressed me on the build and simplicity of these trucks. They didn't break during our part of the adventure. Just a good truck build these guys do at offroaddesign really impressed me. A lot of the other trucks broke or had troubles and offroaddesign guys had the lawnchairs out and having fun after a few checks at the end of the day. I know they are chevy's but it more about the builder than the emblem. Well check with you guys later and drop me a note on the crewcab body repairs. Any little tricks will be appreciated and going to a good cause, old iron.
how much of the top needs to be replaced? if it is just a small section you could use a roof off of a 2 door, or you will need to cut the roof off but leave the suport and have a roof built for it. almost everything from the front seats forward and from behind the rear seat back is the same as a 2 door truck
Thanks for the info. The top of the cab in back got clipped by a fork on a fork lift or something. The rest of it is in decent shape. Still needs work but I feel well worth the work for what I'm getting in the long run. Seen where a another guy in the pictorials that did a similar jab and looked cool. His name was Larz I believe and it was black from canada. Talk to you guys later and I'll keep you informed on build as it goes.
Well got the cab set this weekend and gonna do some measurements for cab mounts. Gonna have to build/buy new front cab mounts for truck. Had some rust I feel needs to be replaced.
The best cab 67 72 mounts on the market are made by Dennis Carpenter and sold by FTE sponsors like Carolina Classics.

Gonna give them a call. Gonna be some cool mods to this paticular truck build. I've really like these truck over the yrs and never in a situation to build one up. Meaning financial backing to do it. i can now and keep you updated onbuild and thanks for help.
Was looking at crew cab tops compared to regular cab tops. On the crewcab it has a lip all the way around at top to the roof. I seen a f600 1969 with crewcab and it had a lip to roof all the way around. Was told they are the same cab with different front clips, look the same. From the looks of things just gonna have to find another donor truck to repair top. I have a regular cab here but gonna need one more to repair top. Gonna work this problem this month gonna take some work to do nice. I've looked at these truck before and never really looked at them like now. Gonna be FUN to do. Here in wyoming not to many resources like down in big towns. Very limited metal shoptype work. Check with you guys later and the fun is about to begin!
