Question Problems with getting truck to start

Weird. My truck just began to not start sometimes. If I try to crank it up in the morning it won't start but 6-7 hours later it will start and after I park it for the night it does the same thing the next day. What could be the problem?

Welcome to FTE ReggieR.

Please post some information on your truck if you don't mind. It will help you get the proper help (year model, and mods, mileage, most recent fluid and filter change info, etc)

Thanks Maxium 4x4
I have had the crank sensor replaced and EGR valve replaced. I will replace the connecting harness and see if that will fix it.

If you think it is the ICP as in the thread I mentioned, just unplug it and see if it will start.

Still can't find problem with truck. Changed everything. Could it be the glowplug? What happens if the glow plug is not functioning? Could this cause the truck to not start?

No start could be:
injector o-ring failure
air in the fuel
no fuel flow
bad Fuel Injection Control Module (FICM)
high pressure oil rail o-ring failure
high pressure oil stand pipe o-ring failure or the pipe itself
the high pressure oil pump (HPOP) stc fitting (if so equipped)
the high pressure oil branch tube
a stuck or bad injection pressure regulator (ipr)
a weak HPOP pump, or
the injection pressure control (ipc) sensor
a bad PCM (computer)
wire chaffing on key components.
I am sure there are more potential causes.

Regarding the fuel flow potential - do you use Motorcraft fuel filters and are you sure you do not have some air in the system? Is the upper fuel filter bowl filling up properly when cranking?

FYI - in the high pressure oil system you must develop enough oil pressure (500 psig), AND the ICP needs to detect it, or it will not start.

Your issue seems to be that it starts sometimes and not others.

Sometimes a high pressure oil leak will cause a no-start when HOT. Then it will start cold. This does not sound like your problem.

Can you take it somewhere to get the codes read (or borrow a code reader)?

We really need more info to help (IMHO).

You might want to read these over and inspect for wiring problems:
