Trailer breaks are of little help when the truck breaks cause most them are inertia activated. They use the signal from the brake pedal for initiation but they increase the voltage tot he trailer brakes when it see deceleration in the truck. So in that case you have to reach down and manually apply the trailer breaks if you want them to fully apply.
