body mount kits

The search function yielded way too many useless results on this topic, so I decided to start a new thread. Still working on mocking up the 74, and I was curious as to opinions on body mounts. Anyone who has taken apart one of these old girls from salt states like MN knows that the bushings and bolt/nut/washer combos rarely come apart the way they are supposed to. I need to either make or buy new mounts and body bushings for the cab and radiator support. If I was building a daily driver or a mud truck I wouldnt care about looks. I have researched all the vendors that advertise here, as well as the ones that don't, and I was looking for a little feedback from others as to the quality and how happy you were with some of these kits and or individual parts you have ordered. Thanks in advance guys.

I'm glad you posted this, I'm in the same situation with trying to remove a crappy body lift the DPO installed.

I found a complete kit from LMC on page 25 of their online catalog. Does your truck have any bushings b/wn the frame and the bed crossmembers?

Bushing kits

I'm also glad you brought up this topic. Yes LMC does have a kit
but I also read on that page their body parts are made overseas
.....China maybe? Would be nice to hear from others who have
had experience at changing these.

I used the Prothane urethane body mounts that I got from Summit (PN: 6-105-BL) and couldn't be happier. Box says made in the USA too. As for the hardware, I can't help.

Do you find they are stiffer than stock? I assume your hardware was all good. I have taken apart 4 of them now, and still cannot piece together a complete set. LOL

As of 2 years ago, the body mount hardware was still available from the dealer, though the radiator hardware is no longer aviailable, the regular body hadware works fine (Diameter is too big, but the bushing fits fine). When I priced it out, LMC wanted a ridiculous amount for them compared with the dealer. It was like 4 times as much for the full set through LMC. I used Prothane bushings, but I bought an entire set, including front end, etc.

I was doing a body swap, so I was able to get a full set of hardware between the 73 & 79. The new mounts are tougher than stock, but I've never seen a new OE replacement to compare side by side.

I was looking at Dennis Carpenter, anybody ever seen that stuff up close? Also, BOTP.com has some of the stuff, but without a picture it sure is hard to tell the quality or if it resembles the original stuff at all.
