ignition lock change
Sorry if this is somewhere else I did a search and didnt find anything.
I bought new locks and a ignition cylinder and I need to know how to change the ignition cylinder if someone can help me out.

Disconnect the battery first of course....
With the key in the ignition, turn it to the on position (forward) and if you look underneath there is a pin about 1/8 inch in diameter.
Press the pin in with something pointy like an awl and pull the entire cylinder out.
Some steering columns have the pin on the inside underneath the steering wheel and you have to pull the wheel first to get at it.
Look by your emergency flasher switch and see if you can see the pin I'm referring to. If not, you'll have to pull the wheel to get at the pin.

It's really no big deal if you have cruise and tilt.
The pin is readily accessible once the wheel is removed. It only take about 15 minutes to swap the cylinder out including removing and re-installing the wheel if necessary.

How do you do it when you don't have the key? I bought a 2000 f150 basket case and there was a key in the ignition but when I turned the key off it would not turn back on.

You have to be careful though or else you could mess up the whole column. Your best bet would be contact a lock smith and have them make you a new key.
