Whats going on all... This has happened a few times and not sure what to do. Some times when i go to start my 2000 f-150 4.6L 4x4 my theft light will flash and my truck will turn over but not start. I think it has something to do with the chep in my key. ??? any help???
You can also check to make sure there isn't any gunk on the key, or physical damage. My dad was about to call a wrecker for his caddy, when he looked at the key and saw a little piece of gum on it. Cleaned it off, and it started right up.
Howdy, this from a new member, Had the same problem w/2002 f150 fx4 and, believe me, it gets worse with time. Mine started off doing it about every 5 or 6 months then kept getting more and more frequent. Forums helped a great deal ( I lurked a lot ). Mine seemed to go ahead and start if let sit for about an hour - till the end. Had my key reprogramed several times. Seemed to help, but it happened so infrequently couldn't tell if that fixed it or not. There is a reciever wire ring in the ignition cylindar that can break, therefore no signal to the PAT computer module. Trying to start in that condition so many times finally burned out the fuel pump. So while ford was replacing the pump, I had them install the ring - $40, the service manager told me it had nothing to do with the problem, but the mechanic had overheard my complaint and when I picked the truck up he came and told me that it was indeed broken. Sorry for the long winded reply, but the problem about drove me nuts.
Is there alot of gold on your key? If so get a new one, dont get one made get a new one from your dealer. It should only be a couple bucks. If that doesnt work I would call the junkyard and get a tumbler.
