Driver's side lean... shim?

Well, I noticed today that my truck has the infamous driver's side lean. The front is about the same left/right but the rear is about 3/4" lower on the left side than the right.

From what I've read there's a TSB on this and Ford's fix was to install a "shim". My truck's way out of warranty so fixing this will be out of pocket for me and I found that the "shim" is a little spendy at a little under $200!

Does anyone have any info, pics, etc of the shim that Ford uses? Or, has anyone came up with a slick fix for this?

Jeff's Bronco Graveyard sells new rear springs for $349/pair so if the shim is almost $200 its a no brainer... I'll just wait til they sag enough to tick me off and I'll put new springs in....

Any other ideas?
Thanks in advance!

the peice that ford uses is just like a small lift block. i beleive they have two different sizes. my truck also leans, if you search you will find my posts the problem is that the shim is just for the back of the truck, so it does not fix the problem in the front?!?!

since you cant put shims on the front it seems that there is no solution to properly fix this unless you got some custom spring work done.

That's interesting.... since my problem is only on the rear (so far) maybe I can find a 1" block as a temporary fix.

Does anyone sell a 1" suspension lift for our trucks

After some more searching and reading, I'll likely let it ride for a while and eventually replace the springs.

i've got air bags on my truck so i just pump up the driver's side a few psi more to compensate. i think i'll probably get new springs in the future.

I had my driver's side rear spring shimmed under warranty. I believe they added a 1/2" shim. I can take pics if you want to use them for reference.

Its because of the extra weight of the driver and fuel tank, or so I've read. Mine leans about 3/4" and for a long time I thought I never got the frame completely straight after the rebuild, but it is definitely straight, just a spring sag. I've thought about swapping my rear springs side-to-side, but that is a lot of work just for a little sag.

riggz -- air bags would be a good way for me to fix mine as well. I could put a set of those on to correct it for now. Then they would still be useful once I replace the springs, unlike the shim (for almost the same money)

Furian -- if you could get a pic of the shim that would be great.

cartmanea -- swapping the springs is another good thought, but you're right... alot of work for no more annoying than the sag is.

Thanks guys!

I figure I'll get 5" Icon rear springs eventually, so I'll ignore it for now.
