The verdict is still out on the Inductive heat flash...only had it today...other than the possibility of the Torqshift relearn...it is worse in throttle response than ever...so I wouldn't expect too much in the way of better power off the line. I dropped the hammer from dead stop to WOT at three consecutive lights...not impressed. Hopefully it will get better...at least my Turbo like it (I'm sure).
Picked up my truck late yesterday and here's the info:
Invoice shows, "Concern 51 CEL is on"
Cause - "coking on turbo"
Correction - "Perform Diesel diagnosis, PO299 DTC retrieved, remove turbo for inspect, perform cleaning procedure on turbo vanes, clear DTC, retest". Operation 081613E
Concern 51-1 - "Update FICM to latest calibration per TSB 08-26-03". Operation MT082603.
They replaced a clamp, PN W302676, and a locknut, PN W302677 and list NPN/Cleaner.
It seems to run fine though the trans shifted a little 'funky', slow for 20 or so minutes after I picked it up.
I asked them to put dye in the oil since it appears that a leak is coming from near the top of the engine. The Tech told the SA it may be the rear engine cover. I think the RMS is also dripping a little bit. I'm going to drive it for a week and take it back on Monday, June 8th and see what they can find.
Russ, have you noticed any mileage gain or power gains? I just had the turbo cleaned and the FICM replaced and I actually had an improvement in fuel mileage by 1 to 2 miles per gallon. It also seems to have more power then before. Glad you got your truck back quick!!
I haven't romped on it yet for the butt-dyno test. I should get a chance to stretch it's legs this morning and see if it pulls harder. I've only driven it 30 miles so I don't have a good baseline for mileage yet.
I'm a bit concerned that they said the Ford Hotline approved replacement of the FICM so until I speak with the SA on Monday I'll have to assume (not a good idea) that they approved the TSB instead.
This dealership, Ken Grody in Buena Park, is definitely more responsive and faster than Tuttle-Click in Irvine. Much closer, too!
Update: I called the dealer service today and am taking my truck in tomorrow morning so they can check for oil leaks with the dye in the oil. Within minutes of hanging up I get a CEL!!
Just checked the codes and got 4:
PO261 - Inj Cir Lo Cyl 1
PO267 - Inj Cir Lo Cyl 3
PO273 - Inj Cir Lo Cyl 5
PO282 - Inj Cir Lo Cyl 8
Maybe this time they'll replace the FICM instead of just flashing it....
