[updated:LAST EDITED ON 30-May-02 AT 11:04 AM (EST)]This is my first question to the board. I have a 92
Bronco 5.8 E4OD with 100k, trans history is unknown.
My TCC locks up, it seems to be slipping but I have no shudder,
under light/medium load I will see a 100-150 RPM rise on the tach at highway speeds. I'm getting a code 628, pan has been down, no chunks,
fluid is red and clear. I've heard there is a programed slip but this seems excessive. Am I heading towards destruction, everything else with the trans seems fine.
You'll know it's shot when the trans starts shifting real hard. The computer will increase the oil pressure to maximum. If you haven't already, drain the converter, then drop the pan to do a complete fluid change. That might be all you need.
Trans fluid has been completly changed, was having problems with the trans not shifting, shifting hard but this was a bad electrical connection at the solenoid pack, local trans shop that has been lending free advice said run it they couldn't find anything wrong. Trans has been shifting fine since then.
