I bought my 93 f350 7years ago used from the original owner,it now has 161,000 on it and has worked pretty well until last week.I have in the 7 years i've owned it changed the filter 4 times last time the trans was flushed bu a machine that was 2 years ago so i plan on dropping the pan and changing it this week as i have been getting what i would call a chatter at times and also a sound that i can only describe as sounding like a dry ujoint but doesn't last it goes away, when pulling hills i feel a vibration around the 25-30 mph mark let out of the throttle it stops back into it and it comes back ..doesn't do it all the time though none of the noises are constant any idea's? solenoids screwing up? bad module unit? help anybody experienced this ? or is it simply time to rebuild?
Is this a extended cab or larger...... check the driveshaft there is a center hanger bearing that will do that..... if it is that, consider doing all the universals and CHB since it is all relative. If you do the job yourself ensure you mark "all" the parts for correct realignment BEFORE removal.
I'll replace my joints and see what happens ,its a regular cab so i don't have the carrier bearing, i did grease the joints but did have one cross that looked like maybe it didn't get grease on the front joint. Its a good starting point and cheaper than the trans for sure.
just a follow up, joints fixed it,wow I have never had a joint make a noice like that with that amount of chatter and vibration ,thats the third set of joints for that truck since i owned it the last two times it simply made a sharp snap when i was taking off and worked to that constant lil chirp as it rotated ..so learned a new sound n symptom for bad u joints . Thanks guys for the input .
