I have a 96 F150 Eddie Bauer 4x4. The supports for the fiberglass running board on the pass side rusted out. Upstate new york winters take there toll.... I really would like to keep the original running boards. Can anyone tell me where I can purchase the original style supports? Cant find them around here. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Paul
prob going to be junk yard item, if you can't find there, you'll have to take off what's left, and fab new ones to match the old ones. should'nt be to bad a job, they're mostly flat bar, and angles
Well, I got mine off, in 3 pieces. The fiberglass is fine, but I will have to do some repairs to the support. I am thinking bending new metal and welding it back together.
What I did was cut the existing supports off to solid metal. Then I bent some conduit to slip inside the cut off ends and painted black and they have held up for over 2 years so far. To bolt the cab-steps to the brackets I removed the black step plate, drilled down through the metal support on the bottom of the cap-step; through the "new" support then re-installed the black step plate.
