What is the best way to fill the engine with coolant for the initial start up? And I read you should leave the water temp. sender out to help bleed the air out. does that sound right. Any tips would be much appreciated.
Many thermostats also have a small hole drilled in them to let air escape as the block fills. The trick is to realize what the hole is for, and position it at the top.
I have never gone fishing, If you can believe it. There too many outdoor activities! I mostly ride mountain bikes in the summer. But I work with a couple guy who are really into fly fishing and they say it's amazing.
How would you fill the block with coolant prior to starting?
The nipple on top of the intake that the heater hose hooks to...I disconnect the hose at my flush tee and hold it up so that as the radiator fills, I can see the coolant rise in the hose. You have to remember that a fluid will find it's own level.
Notice the top tank and the heater core sit higher than the engine? When they have coolant, the engine has coolant.
I've just drill a 1/32 -1/16" hold near about 3/8"-7/16" in from the outer edge of the stat install at 12 o:clock position. it self bleeds the air and never have to mess with it until you replace every few yrs is my 2cents .
