I've got a 1990 F350 with a 460 and a 4 speed. The question I have is that the clutch has a sqeak. Not a bad sqeak and only when the cluth is engaged, but as soon as I just barely put my foot on the clutch pedal the sqeak gos away. It all most sounds like the pressure plate fingers are rubbing the throw out bearing. Any advice is appreciated.
Its your throwout bearing this is how they let you know their starting to wearout.Might as well change the clutch disk and pressure plate when you change the bearing
Thanks for info, I was afraid that's what was happening. I have just a couple of more questions, if you don't mind. The free play on the pedal is only about 3/8 of an inch, if I increase the amount will that help? The second question is, what pushes the trow out bearing back, is it just the pressure plate fingers or should there be a spring hooked up to the fork some place?
On my trucks with mechanical linkage, I adjust the linkage for 1" of free travel. The throwout bearing on these have two springs that keep it attached to the clutch fork.
