I just bought a 08 f-350 with the 6.4 diesel and it has an abnormal engine sqeak. I sounds like it is coming from drivers side rear engine area. It is a little sqeak at idle and it gets a little louder with increased throttle. It is Never a loud howel just an abnormal sqeak sound. What can it be? It seems to be in area of fuel cooler and turbocharger. Does turbo sqeak when going bad?
So new tensioner and belt problem solved? Also does anybody know where i could get a goodyear gatorback serpentine belt for my 6.4L? This squeak is making my truck look/sound when in town. Kinda embarrassing for a 2010 truck ;(
The belt tensor should be a warranty repair and they will put a new belt on it as part of that repair.
Trick is to get to make the noise with them in person. I had to do a couple trips by the dealer to get mine to do it. I would get there and it would quite.
It was #3 roller lifter that dropped bearing, metal in oil , Ford replaced motor! Sorry but it was major to me! Good thing I had the 200,000 mile warranty! Ford covered every thing ( I did not Pay a dime).
Well i'm pretty sure mine is the belt. It stops squeaking if i spray a little brake cleaner on it then starts squeaking right away again. Then around 5:00 pm today it stopped squeaking altogether? So now I have to wait for it to start squeaking again before i can take it in to get it looked at. Does anybody know where i could get a goodyear gatorback serpentine belt for my truck? I would like to just try that anyway.
