Explorer shifting problems........
I picked up an 03 Explorer a few days ago. put 4300 Km on it now and everytime I put it reverse there is a big clunk! Also when I am slowing down it has a clunk shifting down. Took it to Ford today and for $140 they told me there is nothing wrong, and if there is they have to wait until it gets worse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i would think a solenoid or piston may be sticking. first thing i would do is change the oil and filter, clean out the crud in the pan. no power flush, just remove pan, drain, reinstall and refill. hopfully that will wash out any crud on the spool making it stick.
