Calling NumberDummy

NumberDummy, I am hoping you can tell me if the following items are still available:

Transmission Pan - E4AZ7A194A

Gauge Cluster Lens w/ Trip Odometer - E0TF10894BB

Also, I don't know the part number, but my 1985 F150 has a chrome guard bolted down to the door jamb on each side. I am NOT talking about the aluminum piece that attaches to the carpet inside the truck. These are more of a door entry guard. I can't find the part number for that, but I would like to get another set Can you help?

IIRC they are aftermarket and not OEM sill guards.

I have never seen a factory set.

Something like this no?

No, mine don't look like that. Yes, they are located where your pic shows, but mine have raised ribs and the ends are curved. I could be wrong, but they look like nothing I have seen aftermarket. I think they are from Ford.

That was just an example and not for your application......

They are aftermarket. Try PUTCO.

I know that Ford offered these once, sold at the parts counter or as a dealer installed accessory. I'll take a look and see what I can find...get back to you later.
EOTZ10887B .. Instrument Cluster Lens - Use with Trip Odometer / Fits: 1980/86 F100/350 & Bronco / Obsolete

No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.

Is it scratched? You can polish out the scratches with plastic polish sold by Meguiars, prolly others...but IMO, this stuff ain't worth TWO CENTS.

Tube toothpasts works better (no scheiss!), just add a dab of water every now and then.

Tube toothpaste also removes the yellow from plastic headlamp lenses.

Thanks NumberDummy. Yes, my lens is scratched. I tried the Meguiar's stuff, and I came to the same conclusion as you did. I never thought of toothpaste; I will have to give that a try!

I knew if anyone would know, you would, NumberDummy. I would love to know about those door jamb guards. Mine have held up really well, no rust and no chipped finish. I am just about ready to paint my truck, and would like a new set.

Thanks. Keep in touch.

Lariat,

1. I restored a set of corvette tail light lens, years ago before repops came available using the toothpaste technique. It works well. Be carefull about using mechanical buffers, as you can pit the plastic. Use a soft cloth.

2. If your sill plates are not damaged, and only in need oc clean up, consider soda or media blasting to clean up, then buffing. I powder coated a set the same color as the body of my truck. They turned out pretty good.

I'm telling you those guards you are referring to are aftermarket.

They are not OEM.

Got to agree with Stosh on this one. Never seen any come factory but lots of companys make after market ones. I believe I saw them in the LMC catalog.

Stosh, did you read what NumberDummy just wrote? He was a Ford parts man working the counter for what, 10 YEARS? And he just said he remembers them being a dealer-installed accessory.

I can usually spot aftermarket items a mile away. If the ones I have are indeed aftermarket, they are BY FAR the best ones I have ever seen. I have never seen any that looks even CLOSE to the way these look. I will try to post a picture of these soon.

Um, Bill was a partsman a ****load longer than 10 years.

He also said they were dealer installed. That doesn't mean they're OEM from Ford automatically. Lets see what Bill comes up with before we go jumping to conclusions.

yeah. just because the dealer installed them does not mean they are OEM. Very easy way to tell if they are from the factory. How are they attached? If by double sided tape , they are aftermarket. The only thing held on w doubled sided tape is mouldings and emblems. Just look at bed liners. Guess who makes them for ford? DURALINER! and for half the price

The Parts counter at a Ford dealer near me has all kinds of aftermarket accessories for
sale, I'd guess one could have 'em installed on a newly-purchased vehicle if so desired.
I've heard that that aftermarket for the F-150 is the biggest aftermarket of all vehicles....
