Welcome. Glad you found a set of tubeless. Did you find them the old fashioned way, by going yard to yard, or did you go Craigs List or similar method?
Solid rings? I hope they aren't the "widow maker" kind where the wheel halves connect at the middle of the rim. That's about the only solid ring style still in use in 1963. If that's what they are about all they would be good for is donor centers if somebody wants custom wheels made. If you can post a Photobucket pic of them it'd help. Stu
I got them from a neighbor who found a 56 F350 and all he wanted was the cab. So I got the rims and the rear end. My old ones are not the widow makers they have a ring that is pryed on after the tire is placed on the rim. I tried to add pictures but I don't think my account allows them.
Hello Give this guy a call he told me he has 4 of these tires that someone gave him that are new. He told me that he wanted the get rid of them but could not find anyone to use them. His number is 330-297-5749 his name is mike.
Need some direction on this... Building an F2 '49 and need to replace the rims.. ( W/M's ) on the back and 1 Rim rusted out on the front. 8 Bolt pattern. Don't want to get to shiny but would like something a little different and if can't find what I want will do steel OME... I thought I saw that rims from an early 90's to 98ish F250 would fit and work, is this correct??? My thought is to put a mid 80's eight foot truck utility on it..... Any help would be great, Thanks....
Welcome. Glad to have you join the group, and glad to see another F-2 being saved. If you are not concerned about use of original hub caps, any 1997 F-250HD or earlier F-250 wheel will do the job for you. Avoid the 1997 F-250 light duty. Most will be 16" and will use a 235/85R16" tire that will match the 32" diameter of your stock 7.50 x 16s. We've also heard that Dodge 3/4 tons in even later years used 17" wheels with the same 8 x 6.5" pattern. These will have wider rims so you'll want to guard against rubbing on the front. Stu
Hello Sir and Thanks..... I actually have 2 F2's and with a little luck will have both done in time... My son and I have completed a '49 F1 a few years back and still enjoy it...I really do want to get away from the wm's on these trucks... Best Regards, Tom
Speaking of, originally F-2s didn't have widow makers, trade name Firestone RH-5° outer rims. That was the F-3 standard wheel in 17" size. F-2s came with 16" one piece wheels. Naturally things could have been swapped over time. But if you now have 16" wheels they are not the true widow makers. Later trucks got 16" two part wheels having a visible side ring on the face. These in most cases have Firestone RHP type rims. They, and other side ring designs, can still be serviced. Stu

Hello... Thank you for the info, this will be a learning process like everything... There are 7.50 16's on it now and split rims.... on the ones that you mentioned, will they work with the drums or do we need to switch these also...
Not sure I follow the question. If you have 16" two part wheels now, switching to a more modern 16" F-250 wheel will fit fine. Your stock F-2 axle has 12" rear drums that will accommodate any 16" wheel I'm aware of. Stu

Hello and Good Morning, Yes that is the answer I was hoping for... Thank you very much, now it's a trip to the bone yard to see if anything shiny catches my eyes.... Hopefully it won't be a penny.... lol
