Hi everyone.. Im new here and I have a question... I have a 2005 Expedition with about 67,000 miles on her. It is giving me a bit of a problem... It runs very rough and upon coming to a stop the engine shakes. I replaced the fuel filter.. airfilter, spark plugs... broke one off in the motor... had to buy the tool for removing the broken part from the cyclinder... Now during hard accerelation the check engine blinks about 50 times.. and when in park if you slowly increase rps.. it wont go over 3000 rpm's... Any ideas... Thanks for your help...Tim
Sounds like a COP is going bad. Go to autozone and get a free code scan and give us the codes it's throwing...else you could be throwing parts at it all day long.
Coil over plug. You have one that sits on top of each spark plug. It's the device that actually feeds the electricity to and fires the spark plug. This device replaced the distributor cap system. Instead of a set mechanical device firing the plugs, the computer controls each individual COP and fires them at the appropriate timing and intensity, allowing for much more efficient burns. When one goes bad, you can have misfires, entire dead cylinders (where it's not firing at all), weak firings that don't burn completely which causes rough running, ect. Just about the same symptoms as when a spark plug is going kaput.
have you washed the engine lately? I had the same problem that you are describing it turned out to be a wet C.O.P. You might also have a bad one go to auto-parts store to get codes.
This is a cop- http://www.blankenshiptuning.com/cat...ctor%20kit.jpg
You could also double check the COP and make sure it is seated correctly. Being that you just changed the plugs you may not have put something back together correctly

I am assuming the problem started after you did all the maintenance.
