I have an 04 supercrew that has a shake that comes and goes, but gets bad enough to make the box look like its loose. I dont really feel it in the front end as much as the rear. I had the tires balanced and rotated. I thought about changing u joints, pulled the shaft and the joints look almost pressed in? Any one have insight on my shake or u joint issue? This shake is driving me absolutely insane!
Thanks guys!
I don'tt hink Ford ever was able to completly correct the shake. My '05 has a slight shake that's only noticeable on really smooth roads. Did the truck always have this intermentent shake or is this something new? If it just all of the sudden started it could be a bad U joint, or maybe something is messed up in the rearend. My old work truck started shaking and after checking U joint, tires, ect.. I ended up discovering that it was because the bearings/washers inside the rearend were shot and threw the alignment of the gears off and they were tearing themselves apart. I do believe the u joints are pressed in though, but are replaceable.
I never noticed or had the shake but right when I bought my truck I installed a roll up cover and then my swing out tool boxes so maybe that has given the bed enough to not shake. Part of the reason I think it shakes is because of how high are bed walls are but that is just my opinion. I would not want them to change it as I love the deep bed.
