Eric @ Innovative Diesel

I think I have heard you guys, say this is THE MAN when it comes to tuning the 6.0L with the SCT/X3.

I had alot of indepth questions and emailed him through the contact email on their site......

Do you guys (that have contacted him) know if he normally responds to emails or does he prefer a phone call?

Thanks
Joe

I've seen some of the questions Joe can have .................

It may take Eric a few days to work up answers to everything I am sure Joe threw at him!!

The only way I have been able to communicate with him is thru email.
I have talked to Ted on the phone. Both are helpful and respond quickly.
I'd recommend them for sure.

That is funny stuff bismic.

I think Eric is trying to weed through the highlighting and font color changes I do with my emails

I didn't slam him with too many questions. I bet if anything he's probably calling his friends and saying.....man this guy is dumb!!!

I am lookin forward to his responses and more eager to purchase an SCT with some of his tunes.

Thanks for the time,
Joe

This may not be your problem, but when i would email Spartan, my school email address wouldn't allow it to come through. I thought they were ignoring my emails, but when i switched to a Yahoo account, everyone was answered in a timely manner.

I resent it from my home PC. If I don't hear from them in a few days I'll call.

Thanks

My posts are elementary @ best...but here is what I sent him...I will post replies when they come.

Hi Eric,

I have a 2004 PSD and have heard that you are the guy who knows the PSD very well and writes custom tunes for the SCT/X3 which I am planning on purchasing from you.

Quick lowdown on my truck: CC LB 6.0L, 4" banks exhaust sraight pipe, AFE closed filter, 4.56gears with 37" tires, FCDP egr cooler delete done by me, CCV reroute, gauges, just serviced my turbo and replaced all intercooler boots and soon to have trusted performance's large fuel feed lines and crossover fuel rail.

I am currently running an old school Superchips 1704. It does ok, but I think it is time to upgrade to modern technology.

I tow a 39' weekend warrior 5th wheel (est 19k) and a 28' boat trailer with a TOW SAFE tune. Even after I did my full EGR cooler delete, the coolant temps spiked to 219* (up a good grade) and it puked a few ounces of coolant...it used to puke "BIG TIME" before the egr cooler delete.

I pulled over, returned it to stock...NO FURTHER PROBLEMS or coolant puking.....I am almost certain I do not have headgasket issues (done 3 yrs ago by dealer)....No coolant LOSS ever, No Excessive Pressures in the coolant system, New Cap and Level is to TSB specs. My truck ONLY PUKES WHEN I RUN THE "TOW SAFE" TUNE WHILE TOWING....BUT NEVER TOWING THE SAME LOAD IN "STOCK" or running it HARD in HP tune around town.

****I am only hitting 19-20 psi of boost no matter what program I run.....Intercooler system is leak free and I went through the turbo, all tolerances good

I hear that the SCT comes with 3 standard (canned) tunes but that I should consider having a custom tune written for the towing weight I pull. Not sure on this one. I run a 100HP tune around town and like the performance I get from my Superchips, but like most guys I want a little more. I DO NOT HAVE ARP's and hopefully do not want to have to install them if you know what I mean : ) I do not drive like a fool, but I do utilize the power when needed. I do not baby the truck.

I do have a few questions please:

1. What do you think in regards to my puking problems while towing tuned, is this something ou can remedy with a CUSTOM tune?

2. What is the safest HP and BOOST I can run without sacrificing my NON studded engine?

3. I don't get much black smoke when I run it hard I would like a little more...can you incorporate this into a tune?

4. My EGR valve is still in the new modified intake manifold I received from First Coast Diesel Perforance and it is plugged in...I get a CEL that I remove with my Superchiips tuner which comes back (insuff flow to EGR)...can you incorporate into a program to eliinate the CEL coming on ( I need it to function since I am in CA and will be subject to smogs in 2010)?

Thank you for taking the time to read and reply to my email. I really appreciate it and look forward to doing business with you Eric

Respectfully,
Joe

be patient you guys...Eric has earned his great reputation over the years because he takes care of his customers...he just tuned the 1000+HP 6.0 recently...what he learns from his very recent experiences will benefit everyone that uses his tunes...
