I am having some issues with my 89 f150 4.9L sputtering almost chugging when Just on the throttle light. I started by testing the plug wires and plugs. I just bought this truck with in the last month but all the wires and plugs are brand new on them my brother the previous owner just changed them. the wire on plug 1 showed some corrosion at the plug connection but tests fine for resistance. but my question is what could cause the plugs to be loose other than lack of proper tightening. out of 6 plugs 2 were tight. number to plug was two turns from falling out. I believe this has been the main problem with my chugging and sputtering but haven't been able to test as of yet. any tips or info please let me know.
you can buy a spark plug thread cleaner for your engine and clean the threads in the head out, and then using new motorcraft copper plugs, install them to torque specs for your engine.
