I think my wiper control stalk is going out. I have to push really hard on the end to get the fluid squirters to work. That hasn't been enough of a problem to get me to actually fix it, since they do eventually work and I just don't need them that often.
Last time I got in the truck, though, the windshield wipers wouldn't go off. The switch was in the off position, but they acted like they were still on the lowest intermittant setting. I cycled the switch a few times and they would speed up but never go off. I had to turn the truck off and restart it to get the wipers to stop. (Sort of rebooted my truck, did Bill Gates help design the Super Duty?)
So, could it be anything other than the obvious that the switch is going bad? Any special tools or skills needed to swap out the stalk and switches? Good source for the part, since I figure its a Ford only thing?
Im just going to take a stab in the dark here. The end of your wiper arm has a cap that will pop of with a small screw driver. I think there is either a screw or a nut that you remove and the control end slides off. I believe You will see the contacts for the delay and washer. Clean lightly with contact cleaner and alcohol. You may want to clean it up lightly with scotchbrite and then apply a small amount of contact grease.
