Windshield wipers

I have a 2003 NBX 4x4 V-8 with about 9000 miles on it. Twice now while raining even, my windshield wipers just quit working. They will park themselves but then just quit wiping. The only way to get them to work again is stop the truck, get outside and tap on one of the wiper arms. I've checked all the circuits and fuses, even the ones under the hood, and all are good. A bad motor? The switch on the turning stalk seems to be okay. The rear wiper will still work and the turn signal and wahser button all work. Just this annoying and potentinally dangerous situation with the wipers not working. I'm taking it in for work next week. Anyone else had this type of problem??? There is no pattern to it. Sometimes I can drive 100 miles in the rain and no problem. Other times two minutes and they quit. The only thing that is consistent is they never start up by themselves again. You have to tap on the wiper arm to get them to go again.

Windshield wipers

The tapping on the wiperarm may just be a coincidence. I've replaced more multifunction switches (wiper-turnsignal) than I can count, on Ford products. It's tough to find intermittent electrical problems like that. Best of luck!

Isn't that thing still under warranty??

Windshield wipers

I had the same problem with my 99. The cause of the problem was a faulty connection into the wiper moter. So until I could get it into the shop, I took the top off of my cigerette pack, folded it a couple of times and jammed it between the connector and the motor. The dealer ended up replacing the wiper motor to fix the problem. Hope this helps.
