Steering column disassembly
I have a 99 F250 and my steering column needs new bearings. Since my truck has a ridiculous lift and tires, when I get in it I would use the steering wheel to pull myself in it. As a result....my bearings are now shot. The clock spring is shot since there are many plastic parts that broke off of it as a result.
I have my column out and am close to having it disassembled. But I've run into a problem. There's a yellow plastic slide that runs almost the full length of the column and is incorporated into the ignition switch. I cant figure out how to get it out. Anyone know? Here's a pic...
The bottom arrow shows the slide. Top arrow shows where it slides through the top. How do I get it out?

The second time I went to a salvage yard and bought a whole new column (minus air bag) for $200
