This is for NUMBER DUMMY. First of all thanks for all your information you provide on this forum. I went to my local wrecking yard yesterday, they have totally re-organized it and brought in some 1978-79 Bronco's and 1977-79 F 150's. I found four Broncos with front tow hooks and two F150 4x4 with tow hooks. They all look the same so must be factory. The guy in the yard said they were rare to find on the 78-79 bronco and F150. Is this true? I pulled a set off of a 1979 Bronco and a 1979 F150 Here are the numbers, can you confirm that these are Ford parts. One set of tow hooks read L 1257 US382 Z11 and R 1257 US382 Z12. The other set reads 1257 L US328 82 and 1257 R US328 82.
Another reason I believe they are ford factory: The holes in the tow hooks match up perfectly with the factory holes in the frame of both Bronco and F150. Also what are the chances that five fords with front tow hooks have the exact same tow hook. Thanks again for any information. OEM
You may or may not have done this, but sending Number Dummy a PM will get you a much quicker response. At the same time, thanks for sharing by posting, I'm interested in this information as well.
Two types of factory tow hooks that looked like these. You'll notice that the hooks are offset as well. If you ever find a set of straight hooks they are not factory correct.
NOS set in my basement.
This is the more common type.
I can't tell you the part numbers because I don't have a book yet..... hint, hint Bill.
ranger429 - if you don't mind me asking, how much did those run you? I remember a thread on here a long time ago on these. In fact, I remember it turning into a huge flame war, because while they're usually expensive in the first place (from what I've seen at least), some guy on here was charging a ridiculous amount of money on eBay for them while providing false information. That thread got pretty wild! Sorry for the thread hijack!
You're wrong, the D8 tow hooks are the less hefty hooks, the D9 tow hooks are more beefy, that's plainly obvious in Ranger429's pics of his D9 tow hooks and D8 tow hooks below.
Does anyone have measurements (centre to center) for these old Tow hooks?
how about a picture of them installed on a truck?
lastlty, do these fit in the same factory locations on an F250 as opposed to an F150/Bronco?
ive been looking up under my F250 and I don't see a great spot to mount something like this given that I've got leaf suspension on all four corners. Wondering if this was an F150 option only.
