Hey Nep is the fuel sending unit in the low side pumps in the tank? If so I assume that I will have to replace the whole pump...is this correct?

nope, the fuel pump and fuel pump sending unit are sold seperately on rockauto. I can link you if you want. It is in the tank though and connected to the fuel pump

Don't think so Nep....I think there is one on the driver's side rail that looks pretty old. That was another piece I was going to change ....did I read that there are 2 fuel filters like what I have on my F250 PSD

Sorry had to edit that. They are in the tank. You should change your fuel filter with your air filter, about every year. If it's clogged it can really cut into your power

Oh and sorry again. You have 1 fuel filter. There are little screens hooked onto your fuel pumps inside your tanks though, those too can become clogged, but are easy to visually inspect

Thanks Nep....I will change the fuel filter and see if that helps but that wouldn't have anything to do with the fuel gauge problem would it? Also did you read my post about the story on the front fuel tank....Its a page or 2 back I think...

Also would that make it run differently when it warmed up by that I mean not backfire as much through the manifold and lag

fuel filter cloggage could cause lag. the sending units could likely be why your front tank is always reading full, and the rear one always saying empty could be a ****ed up float, or sending unit. But as always with trucks this old, check for corrosion on the wiring and such

yeah i don't think the EGR code is much to worry about. you'll lose about 1-2 mpg with a nonfunctioning EGR if that. Some people have none, I gained 2 mpg by getting mine working again. YMMV

vehicle speed sensor. affects auto trans's shift points, speedometer calibration, and possibly some other stuff. not sure if it being bad could be causing the backfiring or lag since i don't think it controls fuel
