taking off throttle body....?

I'm trying to replace my TPS on a 1988 351 EFI. I've never done this and I'm stuck. How do you disconnect the 3 cables going to the throttle plate(ie: throttle, cruise?, and transmission??) ? I have to do this to totally take off the throttle body. I don't want to force them b/c they are made of plastic.

The cruise cable snaps onto the throttle cable. If there's a retainer holding it to the throttle-body bracket, remove that first and then swing the back of the cruise cable away from the throttle cable to disengage the clip, then move it toward the end of the throttle cable to disengage the pin in the end.

The throttle cable & TV cable (for the AOD transmission only) each snap onto a ball stud, so they just pop straight up.

Thanks Steve. I got it. One more thing. I'll have to take off 2 coolant hoses, one on top and one on bottom. Will i need to drain the coolant or will it not spill?

It may spill a little, but it's so high on the engine that very little will drain, so just be prepared to plug them with a couple of appropriately-sized bolts. You might even jam them onto the throttle-body studs...
