My truck has started to hesitate when I'm at 30mph and then back in the gas. It doesn't do it from a standstill or at higher speeds. The dealership said it was a dirty throttle body (there were no codes)and they cleaned it but I still have the problem. It also idles low, down at 500rpm. Now they think the throttle body might be bad, has anyone else every had a throttle body go bad on them?
I have a 2006 Lariat SCREW 4x4. January of 2009 there was a significant snow fall up in the Pocono Mt. region. I drove from Wilson, PA to Kunkletown, PA with some mixed highway and stop and go driving. I drove most of this in four wheel high, due to the slippery conditions and the snow fall. I kept it between 25-35 MPH. When I was a block away from my house, my truck went into Limp Mode and the little wrench light came on as I was approaching a hill. Needless to say I had no power getting up the hill but enough to pull off to the side of the road. I shut the truck off for about 5 minutes then turned it back on and was fine, wrench light went away and power was restored. The next morning I went out to the store and the roads were still a little slippery, I engaged four wheel high and drove a couple of miles and the wrench light and limp mode on my message center came back and this time the Check Engine Light did as well. I took it out of four wheel drive and shut it down. Again, after a few minutes, I started it back up and the power was restored, wrench light went away, except this time the CEL stayed on. I babied it back home in two wheel drive. No problems in two wheel drive. I took it to the dealer later that week and they ruled out that my throttle body was faulty and needed replacement. Thank goodness it was taken care of under the extended warranty plan. I had 56, 000 miles on it at the time and I am the original owner and follow the maintenance schedule very closely. This last winter I have not had any problems. Truck did well in the snow. I have 5.4L so I think they have that drive by wire set up on the throttle bodies.
