I have a 95', 351 c.i. (5.8), that has a constant drip from the rear main seal. Is it possible to pull the oil pan, loosen the main bearing caps, replace the seal then re-torque the caps and re-install the pan without jacking up the motor. This has a 6" lift which provided a little extra elbow room but not alot.
It used to be possible to do this in the late 70's 351's and you could use the new seal to push out the old seal in the process.
Figured I'd ask the experts since anything that's ever been done to a Ford has been done by somone on this site.
It is a one piece kind of like a wheel bearing seal. You remove the trans and flywheel and service it from the rear. No need to pull the oil pan at all.
