Question convert to towing mirrors

Hi all
I have a new to me 01 F 250 with standard mirrors, which are fine until I pull my stock trailer. I have trouble seeing my trailer tires.
Does any one know how much of a job it is to change out to the towing mirrors? I have power, mirrors now, but not heated.
Thanks

it's very easy. here is a link to how to do it:
New Mirror installation
my suggestion is that you take apart the door and check to see which mirror plug you have. it will probably be round. it is good to know when buying the mirrors. look at kool vue mirrors. they have every mirror option for the super duties and they are oem quality.

Or you could convert to the 08 power fold and power extend like others have done on fte. I'm not an electrician and found it intimidating to rewire the mirrors, but once into the project it was quite simple to do. I even left the wiring in the doors all original and can convert back within a few minutes if ever needed.

They are great I upgraded to the lighted and heated mirrors a few months ago and I love them. I had paddles on my old truck and I love my tow mirrors, you can generally land the new lighted mirrors for a good deal now adays where everyone is going to 08s.

Smile wow, lots to think about

Thank you every body for the great input!!
I had no idea I had so many options.
The detail I must have! Is that convex mirror on the bottom. The rest will be bells and whistles, I will have to see which are compatible, and costs.
I am intimidated by it all (taking the door apart scares me the most) and the last thing I want to do is create an "oh didn't see that coming" issue.
I will do some home work, if no one minds I will post for more input. I really do appreciate it!!
Thanks!

Taking the door panel off, is probably the easiest of the ordeal, if you can call any of it hard, it is more just intimidating. I think there is a write up in the tech folder on the door panel removal.

A couple more links, (all from the tech folder) on the mirror info.

Oh and almost forgot, welcome to FTE.
