Finally got around to going back to the yard where I found the '63 wagon w/C1 heads. I figure it would have been scrapped by now. Nope it was still there, so talked the guy into taking $40 for the pair since one valve cover was missing for unknown number of years. Then while walking thru the yard to pull them I spy a '76 sitting against the fence. "Hmmm, new arrival?, I ask.
"Yep, got it in last week."
I lifted the hood to find 360 on the air cleaner, then glanced to the left bank, and it read 105.
"How much for the whole motor?"
"What on earth do you want a 360 for?"
"Just something to tinker with. Maybe an extra set of heads and some of the small parts for spares"
"You pull it...$150"
"Does it run?"
"dont know, it came in on a flatbed."
"if it turns over by hand, I'll give $100.
"Deal"
I'm loving these lower scrap prices and clueless yard owners!!!
So I scored a set of C1 heads and a complete 105 blocked motor all in the same day for $140. Good thing i played the lottery today. Now, where's the wife....I need to see if my luck continues...
