Scrap Prices

Scrap prices here are way up. They been up a while so my parents decided last year to start recycling pop cans. Took them in the other day, he had like 130LBS and got I think $105 or something like that. Almost $1 a pound. They took a while truck load of old copper and metal, they came out with over $300...Makes me want to start scrap collecting...

Also had a friend of mine take a truck load of scrap to the scrap yard and he came out with $100...He loaded up a bunch of junk today at my house....

Man scrap collecting seems to becoming a new career in these parts, you got guys running up and down the roads, ads all over the papers....

Anyone here collect scrap, and or recycle?

I know its been up here as I give my scrap away just because I can't stand having the junk sit around the guys I give it to are making a extra $2 to $3 grand a month. If I can get my truck in better shape(tires, brakes)I am going to make a run at it.

On another note about scrapping I used to go around and find stuff all the time like lawn mowers and bicycles and stuff like that and could repair it and sell it or whatever but now if it is metal it is gone within a few min of hitting the curb.

Srap metal is up to $7.50 per 100 lbs and junk cars are up to $11 per 100 lbs around here. Some people are offering to give you $100 to haul junk cars away

As a recycling center manager scrap prices are as high as any of us can remember but beware the prices are likley set to fall soon just because all the shreders are running at near max capacity. the bigger mills can't process it fast enough making them nervous.at two of the mills we sell to have cut us $35.00 a ton and restricted us to 625 tons a month.
