The sensor came with the Autometer gauge. Auto Meter 2640 Trans Temp 100-250 F
No adapter was needed.
As for the port it is above the fluid when the engine is off so no leakage occurs.
sweet! thanks for the link. I was asking if any fluid came out of the bung because i wanted to know if the sensor is actually IN fluid, and not just above the fluid level-you would not get a useful reading if the sensor was not in contact with ATF.
you observation that no fluid came out of the hole makes me wonder if that is a dry spot in the system
When the trans pumps up the sensor is in a fluid filled passage.
Think about your dipstick.
You have to have the engine running and the trans in park to check the level.
If you try to check it with the engine off the fluid is not circulating through the passages.
And you get a high read on the stick.
We would not use the port if it did not work!
Your oil temperature sensor is not in oil unless the engine is running either.
The oil also drains down to the bottom of the engine unless the pump is being driven by the engine.
