95 Bronco 351 V8. Cruise does not work. It is the electronic version, not the vacuum type like on earlier models. Ok. Horn works, no airbag light flashing. Brake switch has been replaced under recall. Have been doing voltage checks and continuity checks. I "assume" that the clock spring is good since there isn't a flashing air bag light and the horn works. I am coming to idea that the electronic servo is bad. Does that sound right. I tried another servo from a salvage yard but id didn't work either. Might be bad?? Any ideas, or does it sound like the servo is bad.
The cruze uses a one of the speed sensors for information. One is in the diff and the other is in the transfercase. I've had trouble with mine and just unpluged and plugged them back and it worked. I assume they were getting bad contact.
If that fails, I would think the speedometer wouldn't work. I should say this because I haven't had a chance to figure out what is wrong is that the ABS doesn't work either. The bulb is burned out and the scan tool I have doesn't do ABS. I don't know if they are related but I have to dig into that one. I am not sure about a speed sensor, but I will check it out and do some resistance/voltage checks.
On mine the air bag light flashed 3-2, a month or so later the cruise control quit, then several months later the horn quit. Clock spring fixed all three.
I still get humid day air bag light occasionally but it has changed to 3-4 now. Restartiing the engine clears it.
I will have to try and find a known good cruise control module and see if that takes care of it. My airbag light comes on when started and then turns off. The horns work fine. It still could be the clock spring but right now, it doesn't appear to be.
Is it easy to replace the clock spring by yourself? My airbag light started flashing then the horn and the cc went shortly after. Going on a bit over 8 years now!! Everything else has been fine. Is it an easy fix? I had someone tell me that you had to have a trained airbag guy and all of that stuff and it was going to cost me a 300 bucks. Needless to say I have not gotten around to it yet. Any help would be appreciated.
I was also afraid of the air bag and the dealer changed the clockspring...OUCH! $$$
Please do lots of research to confirm this as I don't want you to get hurt. Since then I read the air bag has a capacitor. To make the airbag safe from deploying disconnect a battery cable ( don't remember which one) for thirty minutes or more. That will drain the capacitor charge. I might have read it in Haynes.
Thanks, I will try to find all of the info that I can. I remember putting in a heater core in my Mustang a few years back. I think it said to unhook the battery and wait something like 20 minutes and the airbag would be safe to work on.
