We lost one of our dealers, but they also have other brands that they sell. Trouble is the dealer just bilt a brand new facility for the Chrysler brands. Guess now they will move one of their other brands there instead.
The douchebag executives at Chrysler didn't even have the sack to contact the dealers personally, they sent out the death notices via UPS! Shame on them. I Just watched a 5th generation Chicago area dealer on tv here in tears, this old guy is broken. He should be getting an award for being able to peddle Chryslers' crap product over the years. GM sends out the "Terminator" today, will be interesting to see how the market responds to this gloom later this morning. Ford is suspiciously quiet so far, hope they still have a pile of cash.

The little town I used to live in and where I boat at is losing all dealers - tri star CDJ is on the list, GM is closing team chevy/buick/caddy, the olds/gmc dealer folded over a year ago, and ford is closing huston. but then again, this area is so poor they have not sold a NEW vehicle to a local in years.
and a shame - the deals. we needed to replace the totalled tarass so found a 06 Rendezvous with 36 K on the clock that stickered for $38000 new for $14300 exactly out the door. essentially 2/3s off for 2 years. Its not often you buy a used car with about 50% equity in it...
You have to wonder what they based their decision on, as far as what dealers close.
It can't be on profitability...like they claim.
The big dealer here sells GM and Chrysler products under one roof. He also has a Ford dealership close by. They sell far more GM products than Chrysler.
But there is also a Chrysler dealer 20+ miles to the east as well as one 30+ miles to the south and some 50 miles to the north.
We lost ours now I got to travel if we need something done to the wifes Jeep under warranty ( the front power port needs repair to,I can't fix it ) a 7 min ride just turned into 35-40 min ride plus I won't know anybody there.
I wonder if they are going to get the GM axe as well, seems no one is safe and our dealer is small there are much bigger dealers 35-40 min away outside of Atlantic City.
GM has realeased their list of dealerships, just not publicly yet. They have told the dealers, but since GM is not in bankruptcy, the dealers can fight it with GM. One dealership has been selling GM's for 98 years and was told they are gonna be shut down.
If you go to the link, they have listed some dealerships that told them they were told they were gonna close. Not only is GM gonna try and close these 1100 down this year, GM also said they will not be renewing some contracts in the coming years as well.

Its the cheapest and easiest way to do it. Think about this, 800 dealer closings. If you figure a minimum of 30 minutes to talk to each dealer discuss closing plans, whats gonna happen to their cars, etc..That is 24,000 minutes, 400 hours, or about a month worth of calling by an executive. Realistically it would be longer then that as well. The media and people would look at that as wasting valuable time in the bankruptcy proceedings.
Or, if they sent an executive to each dealership, everyone would yell and scream about them blowing tons of money - to tell dealerships they are no more.
Only one dealership here in RI is closing, and that is a Jeep only dealership.
