NumberDummy ... Do you know what "~$50" means!
I would say that was pretty accurate GUESS!
Considering Drivetrain.com sells them for ABOUT $45!
For what he is doing I would NOT buy them from a Ford Stealership!
-Enjoy
fh : )_~
At the prices I quoted, the FTE sponsor is making about 8% profit.
Don't always blame the dealer, blame Ford for the ridiculous prices.
And...if the parts were not bought from an FTE sponsor, the prices would prolly be MSRP...or more!
btw: 35 years in the partsbiz, 48 years buying/selling firearms, and 53 years in the car hobby, I've never seen ~ before a dollar figure before today, so I have no clue what ~ refers to.
AFAIK: ~ = tilde, used as an accent mark in the Spanish language.
O-Not to worry, I don't blame the dealers... I know where the blame goes!
Yes, I may call them Stealerships at times, But I also know who sets the prices!
The Tilde means "about"!
Thus "~$50" = "About $50"
The Tilde has been used to signify "about" for many many years!
PS, You know I am very **** about using Factory parts! I believe in them! (Remember Core Support Absorbers)
But there are times that Factory parts just are not worth it, This is one of those times. It's just going to destroy whatever he chooses to use.
The Tilde has been used to signify "about" for many many years!
Donde esta?
Not on any of the dozens of internet sites I've been on.
Not out there in the real world on anything I've ever seen, and I have traveled the world quite a bit...that is, before 11/04/2006...when I discovered FTE.

Guess you need to broaden your use ... (Just kidding ... )

Inre to Spanish, I took three years of it in high school. Working at dealers in LA LA Land, one has to know some Spanish...at least to begin the conversation.
In Spanish, Canada is pronounced Canada, but La Canada is pronouncd La Can-yahda.
I decided to go to the ford dealership and used my dads company's discount so it wasn't near as expensive.
I changed the forks and fluid. The drain plug was covered in super fine metal partials along with some larger pieces. And i plan to change the fluid again next weekend.
so far, no more jumping out of gear or grinding. It acually shifts great. I only wish i could get the shifter rebuild kit because it looks pretty bad. But other then that it is doing great.
Thank you all for the info and part numbers. It made it much easier.
Hey Matt. Changing the forks is really pretty easy and doesn't take long. The most time consuming part is getting the top of the trans off, by either pulling the trans, or pulling the seat out of the cab, the carpet back and the trans hump off. i did it through the cab and it took me about 4 hours. once you get the top off the transmission, Make sure the forks are in the neutral position. Begin with the 1 & 2 fork. Use a hammer and punch to knock out the roller pin holding the fork to the rail. Slide the rail back toward the rubber plugs(which will need to be removed to get enough clearance) while holding the fork still. once the rail is clear of the fork you can remove the fork. before you can replace the 1&2 fork you must do the 3 & 4 fork if it is needed. And you must return the empty 1& 2 rail to the neutral position before moving the 3 & 4 rail.
i know it sounds confusing, but it really is simple, especially once you get the top off and look at it, then it all makes sense.
Let me know if you have any questions, I'd love to help.
Thanks for the tips. I'm going to pull the top off the trans this wknd. The new forks are supposed to be in on mon so hopefully it will be on the road again soon.
