Third member swaps

I have a nine inch with 28 spined axles, small bearing. Will any other nine inch third member bolt in? or does it have to be specific?

Has to be 9, not 9 3/8s, and has to be 28 spline.

Hey man...measure the ring-gear...

But...first...ya gotta GET to it...

Seriously...These suckers a fairly simple units...IF ya take your time!

Is this for your Effie? The "earlier" the better...overall width-wise...

Check this out from this site...

https://www.ford-trucks.com/article/idx/9/172/article/1948_through_1960_Ford_F1_and_F100_Rear_Axle_diffe rential_Swaps.html

It will be a good start......

I picked a complete 9" out of a '70 F100 (we think) and it's a perfect fit...

My girl talked the seller down to $70.00 while I was gettin' it ready
to load up!!!

11" drum brakes...BIG axle bearings...large tubes...we (and everyone)
have decided it is an "un-marked" Nodular...do NOT belive all the "stuff" ya
read about these things...

I have affectionately name this **** Franken-Nine due to all the headaches
I incurred tryin' to figure out what the he!! it is...

A 9" center section is a 9" center section is a 9" center
section is a 9" center section is a 9" center section...

The ONLY difference I found is some have a drain-plug and some do not...some fill-AND-drain-plug...weird huh...

You get the idea...
