It may look the same, but looks can be deceiving.

A 1965 F100 4WD is not built on the same exact chassis as an F250 4WD, because the frame, brakes, wheels, suspension, rear axle are not the same.

It's not built on the same chassis as an F350 either, not only because the parts that fit F350's are different than F250's, but because Ford didn't offer an F350 4WD until 1979.

If it's a F100 factory 4WD, the VIN begins with F11.

A 1966 F100 4WD is not built on the same chassis as a 1965 F100 4WD.

1966 F100 4WD's use the same cab as 1965/66 F100/250 2WD's. The Stylesides use the same long or short beds as 1965/66 F100/250 2WD's.

1966 F100 4WD's use the same front fenders as 1961/66 F100/250 2WD's which have a 36" opening radius.

1965 F100/250 4WD's use the 1961/64 cab. The 1961/65 F100/250 4WD's and 1966 F250 4WD Stylesides use the 1957/60 bed.

1965 F100 4WD: The fenders are the same as 1961/64 F100/F250 4WD, 1966 F250 4WD, 1961/66 F350....which have a 45" opening radius.

1966 F100 4WD's use a different steering gearbox than any previous model, it's the same as 1967/72 F100 4WD.

The radiator support used on 1966 F100 4WD's is the same as 1965 F100/250 2WD's, but no other years or models.

There are myriad other differences that separate 1966 F100 4WD's from 1961/65 F100 4WD's.

actually, my dad has a 65 f250 and i lined my 65 f100 up with it and we compared em and the frames are EXACTLY the same. the only difference we could tell was front and rear axles. mine came stock with a 9 inch in the back and a dana 44 in the front. his came with a dana 60 in the back and a dana 44 in the front. thats the only differences we can tell. they use the same cabs as you said too. and beds. but the 100 has regular 5 lug wheels while the 250 has 8 lug.
